LIVONIA, MI – Productivity Engineering Services, LLC is delighted to announce that industry expert Jeffrey Miller P.E., CPIM, SCOR-P, CS&OP, Founder and Managing Principal, PES will lead a special workshop on “Lean Layout Do’s and Don’ts” at The ASSEMBLY Show. The virtual event will be broadcast live on October 28, 2020.

Optimizing flow and minimizing waste are two of the basic elements of lean manufacturing. Those concepts also play a critical role in laying out assembly lines. The way in which workstations and tools are arranged can affect ergonomics, productivity and throughput. Lean lines should accommodate increasing product variety without compromising quality or introducing waste into the process. Unfortunately, many manufacturers struggle with issues related to line layout. Participants of the session will walk away with real world, practical advice on designing assembly lines for high performance.

“Between the COVID crisis and the rapid pace of technology disruption, we’re living in an unprecedented time. The high level of volatility, complexity and uncertainty make it virtually impossible to predict what the future holds, said PES’ Jeffrey Miller.  “That’s why having a flexible operation capable of adapting is critical. Being able to produce a wide variety of models simultaneously on a production line and being responsive to rapid shifts in consumer demand translates to a competitive advantage.  As opposed to producing only one model and when that particular model falls out of favor, you’re liable to suffer the consequences of plant closings and layoffs. In this workshop we’ll reveal pragmatic solutions that address these issues and more.
